RiverFest celebrates the St. Croix River

HUDSON – RiverFest a “Party with a Purpose” invites you to join the celebration of the St. Croix River on July 16-20 in Hudson. While the goal of RiverFest is to get people out to enjoy the river, the purpose for the celebration is to build awareness of the river, our environment and the need to preserve our water quality.

This year we will focus on the river and water quality with two new programs. First, on Tuesday, July 16, the Minnesota DNR will bring their Invasive Carp Field Team to showcase their equipment and techniques at Lakefront Park in the bay north of the Hudson dike. Two on-the-water demonstrations of the DNR’s electrofishing boat are planned for 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. (water conditions permitting).

Additionally, the Minnesota DNR, the Wisconsin DNR, the National Park Service and the Wild Rivers Conservancy will have display booths with information and demonstrations at the pavilion by the Lakefront Park Beach House.

Our second water activity is a Water Quality Panel Discussion at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 at Camp St. Croix’s RCU Discovery Center, following the Hudson Daybreak Rotary meeting. Moderator Buck Malick will lead a panel discussion with Michael Mroz, the City of Hudson’s Public Works and Parks Director and Tara Daun, Director of Conservation and Stewardship at the Wisconsin Farmers Union.

RiverFest would not be possible without the support of our event sponsor Nor-Lake, and many other local sponsors, as well as various partner organizations who collaborate to make RiverFest a success.

RiverFest is a five-day celebration of the St. Croix River with an assortment of activities planned for people of all ages to enjoy. It starts on Tuesday, July 16 with the annual River Cleanup and runs through Saturday, July 20 with a Native American Celebration.

Please visit StCroixRiverFest.org for a complete list of RiverFest activities with event details and updates, or you can find St. Croix RiverFest on Facebook.
