Letter to the editor: A better world ahead?

To the editor,

For readers who point to Republican exaggerations and lies, here is the truth about Kamala Harris' and Tim Walz' records on abortion rights, or as they call it, women's reproductive health care.

According to Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life Committee, while serving as U.S. Senator from 2017–2021, Harris “had a zero percent pro-life voting record.” She consistently “voted for abortion without limits, taxpayer funding of abortions, late-term abortions, and abortions in our military.”  These, of course, with government subsidies.

Tobias writes in LifeNews.com that on Feb. 25, 2020, Harris was asked to vote in favor of a provision that ensured infants born alive during attempted abortions be given medical care as other newborns are. She refused.

Tobias states that while Minnesota's Walz served in Congress, he “always cast pro-abortion votes. As Governor, he signed an abortion-until-birth bill that strips all protections from the unborn and their mothers. He even killed the Positive Alternatives programs that provided parenting classes for new moms and diapers and cribs for their babies.”

Are these lies? Exaggerations? Hardly. Does pregnancy actually threaten the lives of a reported 1,000 plus women at Minnesota clinics monthly seeking termination? Check out these facts with Tobias, the NRLC Committee president who has served on its board of directors since 1987.

Harris and Walz would like nothing better than to leave constitutional states’ rights in the dust of a federal abortion-on-demand law for all stages of gestation. Based on what? Women's emotional health? That subjective assessment means that: removing a wanted late-term baby from a womb by Caesarian section is “birthing”; removing an unwanted late-term baby from a womb and allowing it to die is a mental health procedure. Fewer than one third of Americans support this.

Finally, marketing abortion pills as ethical healthcare when they can put lives and reproductive futures at risk is the latest tragic lie that preys upon desperate and innocent adolescents and young women unprepared to deal with disastrous side effects alone.

The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists has fought for two years to eliminate misinformation of the kind used by pro-abort politicians to describe what killed Amber Thurman and Candi Miller in Georgia after taking abortion drugs. Self- management for them was deadly. Those drugs are not safer than Tylenol.

Every voter needs to ask if the Harris/Walz marvelous promised future of abortion-on-demand under their governance is the product of ignorance or deliberate deceit.
