The Ellsworth Senior Center would like to invite all senior citizens ages 50 and greater to the following events to be held at the senior center:

Pool Players meet every Monday and Friday from 1-3 p.m.

Euchre Card Players will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 25 and 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to come.

Our Balanced Wellness Presentation with CJ Young from Country fit will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17. She will talk brain health basics, such as research on cognitive decline, fitness/brain health correlation and five lifestyle habits for a healthy brain. CJ will bring her Tanita computer to read our personal body composition readings. We will also do some group exercise to help maintain balance and strength.

Katrina will be providing Foot Care for a fee on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23 (six-week and eight-week schedule) beginning at 9 a.m. Please call the Ellsworth Senior Center at 715-273-5873 for more details and/or to make an appointment.

Celebrating Seniors Gathering will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Did you know that what’s good for your heart is also good for your brain? Lifestyle factors that we can modify and control play a large part in reducing our risk for cognitive changes as we age. Join Amy Luther, Dementia Care Specialist from the ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center) of Pierce County as she shares information about improving brain health, reducing risk for cognitive decline, and pursuing a well-rounded approach to healthier living.

Discovering Together Tuesday will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 with traveler and author, Gail Shore. Shore’s solo trips have taken her through five decades and nearly 100 countries, including destinations as intriguing and unfamiliar as North Korea, Iran, the Amazon, and even Timbuktu. Her new book, “Opening My Cultural Lens,” is the account of her lifetime on the road—an illuminating exploration of the traditions, rituals, and cultures of some of the world’s most remote and fascinating populations. Shore will join us for a book signing and interactive discussion about the places she’s been, the people she’s met and the lessons she’s learned. A luncheon sponsored by the Ellsworth Senior Center and Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library will follow the program.

Unless otherwise stated, all events are at the Ellsworth Senior Center, located in the basement of the old Ellsworth Public Library (312 W. Main St.) Please park in the back parking lot and enter through the back door.
