RIVER FALLS - The River Falls FFA has received a $10,000 grant from Channeling Good, thanks to a nomination by Keith Gunderson, a local Channel SeedPro with Pro-Ag Consulting, LLC. The grant will support funding of the construction of a new greenhouse at River Falls High School, a project the FFA has been fundraising for over the past few years.
“With this grant and our students’ fundraising efforts, we're close to being able to build the new greenhouse.” said Ryan Pechacek, RFHS teacher and FFA Advisor. “The current greenhouse is attached to the high school, and has poor temperature control, making it difficult for plants to grow there."
The greenhouse will support FFA and RFHS students, be used in various classes, and provide opportunities for summer Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAE).
“Students will gain greenhouse management skills, conduct agriscience research, and grow crops for the school farm,” Pechacek added.
Channeling Good, a Channel initiative, partners with local SeedPros to support nonprofits improving rural communities.
“River Falls was the only selection within Wisconsin,” said Gunderson. “It’s very exciting that we were chosen. I hope this grant will help make the greenhouse a reality.”
