Did your grandparents come from the “old country?” Were they immigrants, refugees, or asylum seekers? Was their entry into the United States the same or different from the experiences of today’s immigrants?
Today, immigration is a much discussed and even controversial topic. Join others in our community from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Prescott High School Library (1010 Dexter St.) to listen to our panel of immigration experts. This “Voices of the Confluence—sixth in a series,” session is free.
Social media and news agencies often provide conflicting information. Our experts can offer accurate data about regulations, causes of immigration, and create a snapshot of the people who are now entering our country.
Our panelists are Michele Waslin, Assistant Director of the Immigration History Research Center; Kathryn Burger, Minnesota Council of Churches Refugee Services; and Dallas Eggers, retired Prescott teacher and president of the Prescott Historical Society.
This program is sponsored by Building an All-Inclusive Community, Prescott Community Education, Friends of Freedom Park, Prescott Historical Society, and made possible by a Catalyst grant from the Wisconsin United Church of Christ. Enjoy refreshments and settle in for an informative discussion.
