Carol I. Betthauser, age 86, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at the Spring Valley Health & Rehab Center in Spring Valley, Wis.

Carol was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Janesville, Wis. She was the daughter of August C. and Irma (Voelz) Voltz, and grew up in Clinton, Wis. where she graduated from Clinton High School in 1955. Carol attended business college and worked as a medical receptionist for several years.

In 1959 Carol married Leland R. Betthauser at St. Mary’s Church in Tomah, Wis. After marriage they lived mostly in Walworth, Wis., where they raised their family. She worked as a deli manager for Daniel’s Sentry Foods for 30+years.

After retirement, she spent her time between her home in Janesville, Wis. and the cabin at Lake Arrowhead, Nekoosa, Wis.

Carol’s talents were many! She was an accomplished seamstress; enjoyed crafting, gardening, singing in the church choir, playing euchre and bingo, and riding her ATV. She was a lover of all animals and had many pets throughout her life.

She will also be remembered working alongside her family doing many home improvement projects and always bringing the “best tasting” potato salad to all events!

Carol is survived by her children, Curtis (Michelle) Betthauser of Ellsworth and Cathy (Kevin) Corbin of Nekoosa, Wis./Huntingdon, Tenn.; grandchildren, Carol Corbin of Tallahassee, Fla., Jacob (Halle) Betthauser of River Falls, Wis., Kelsey Betthauser of Boise, Idaho and Logan Betthauser of Eau Claire, Wis.; great-granddaughter Charlotte Betthauser of River Falls, Wis., a sister, Grace Churchill of Walworth, Wis., several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Leland (1999), special friend William Cabanowski (2021), brother Eugene and sister Margaret.

If desired, friends may make a memorial contribution to their local Humane Society in her memory.

A memorial service and interment will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Lake Geneva, Wis. at a later date.
