Prescott welcomes new staff at luncheon

Prescott School District is “ready to thrive” in 2024-25 as a new school year begins with a few new faces (and one familiar one). Prescott Community Club welcomed teachers and staff to a new year with a luncheon at The Old Ptacek’s Event Center last week.

Heather Christenson

Position: Transportation director

Experience: After driving a PSD bus route for 16 years, Heather will now be in a different type of drivers eat in her new role.

Family: Husband Brent, two fabulous children

Hobbies/interests: She and her husband are DIYers, who are currently building a backyard dream oasis.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I will miss seeing the students along my route on a daily basis, but am looking forward to learning the new aspects of the supervisor position.

Karly Erickson

Position: Middle school special education

Education: Marian University in Fond du Lac for license in special education and elementary/middle education; experience teaching in a fifth grade classroom.

Family: I have a 7-month-old Golden Retriever puppy that is my life!

Hobbies/interests: Adventuring outside, playing volleyball, basketball and softball.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to living in a new community, teaching in a new district, meeting new people and creating new ideas for my students!

Sarah Gilles

Position: Middle school math teacher

Education: Graduate of UW-La Crosse and completing an elementary education degree from Viterbo University

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with family and friends, especially when it’s something outdoors like biking, hiking, rollerblading or playing volleyball.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to teaching in a district with a small town feel, and truly getting to know each of my students.

Danielle Hudy

Position: High school science teacher, chemistry and physics

Education: UW-River Falls; taught physical science and STEM at Cannon Falls the past three years.

Family: Husband and daughter, who is almost 1; a 4-year-old German Shepherd and a senior cat.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I love being able to interact with my students and help them work through road blocks in the classroom.

Cara Klatt

Position: Finance director

Experience: Cara joined the district office in May with a wealth of business experience, most recently from 33rd Company/PURE Property Management and Anchor Paper.

Family: Sons Brett and Brandon, daughter Kayla, grandchildren Callie and Kylie

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with family, traveling and playing golf when given the opportunity.

What has helped you in your new role? My 20+ years in operations and finance management have been beneficial to my transition to Prescott School District.

Bobbi Jo Lierman

Position: Middle school special education

Education: UW-River Falls

Hometown: Bobbi Jo and her family have lived in Prescott for 12 years.

Family: Husband, Eric and three children

Hobbies/interests: Their kids’ activities, caring for their pet rabbits, chickens, cat and leopard gecko

What are you most looking forward to this year? Having the ability to be a person who makes a positive and lasting impact on a student’s school experience is something I value about teaching.

Matt Smith

Position: Activities Director

Experience: Has served as a classroom aide, teacher, assistant principal, virtual academy coordinator and coach.

Family: Wife Meghan is a member of Prescott’s education team; children Miah, Maggie, Michael and Mary

Hobbies/interests: Reading, golfing and being active

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m excited to reconnect with the fine people here and make a positive impact on our Prescott community.

Sam Swick

Position: Middle school health and physical education

Education: UW-River Falls

Family: My fiancé and I enjoy spending time with our two cats, Sandra Dee and Motley Crue.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time outside being active; playing softball, golfing, fishing or hunting.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to teaching in a smaller district to give me the opportunity to create connections with students and my Cardinal coworkers.

Cassie Webb

Position: K-3 special education

Hometown: She and her family have lived in Prescott for two years.

Education: Minnesota State University-Mankato for special education; taught K-2 special education in South St. Paul for nine years.

Family: Husband Daniel, son Maverick, daughter Hazel.

Hobbies/interests: Various outdoor activities and spending time at the family cabin

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to building a sense of community in my classroom that reflects the sense of community in Prescott!

Aria Wells

Position: High School English teacher, English 9 and Mythology

Education: UW-Eau Claire, with experience teaching middle and high school levels.

Family: Husband Sam and she look forward to exploring the area and getting involved in the community.

Hobbies/interests: Reading, crocheting and camping.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I love seeing students grasp complex content in the classroom and accomplish their goals outside of the classroom.
