Ellsworth welcomes new staff for 2024-25

Ellsworth Community School District is pleased to welcome the following new staff members to its team, led by new superintendent Brian Nadeau. Optional school interim days begin Tuesday, Aug. 27, with the official first day of school being Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Logan Benson

Position: High school physical education intern

Hometown: Ellsworth

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy being active in my free time through playing golf, basketball and running. I also enjoy spending time with my family up north.

Family: Shout out to my family, they rock! My support system consists of my dad Jared, my mom Kristie and brother Luke.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m excited to jump right into my teaching career. Looking forward to the upcoming year!

Katie Childers

Position: Speech language pathology assistant

Hometown: Hastings, Minn.

Education: UW-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy spending time with family and friends and I love reading.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to meeting all the students and building relationships!

Elijah “EJ” Dorsey

Position: High school science teacher

Hometown: Redmond, Wash.

Education: University of Washington (BS Chemistry), Pacific Lutheran University (MA Education)

Hobbies/interests: Writing, crochet, learning to code and video gaming

What are you most looking forward to this year? I can’t wait for hands-on labs and real-world applications of science concepts! It’s fun to view the world through a scientist’s eyes and mind.

Lexi Dvorak

Position: Third grade teacher

Hometown: Polk City, Iowa

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Going for walks, crafting, and singing

Family: I am from Polk City, Iowa, which is where my parents still live. I have one brother who lives in Huxley, Iowa. My fiancé Logan and I moved to Hudson this summer with our Golden Retriever, Samson.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to get to know all of my students and work together with the staff here at Ellsworth!

Megan Feist

Position: School psychologist at the middle and high schools

Hometown: Elk River, Minn.

Education: I received my bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead and attended the school psychology program and received my master’s from UW-La Crosse.

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy spending time outside, hiking, fishing, spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking, gardening, and completing puzzles.

Family: My parents are my biggest role models. I have two sisters (one younger and one older). I live with my boyfriend of eight years and we have two cats named Waylon and Dino.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am so excited to build relationships with the students, staff, and families of ECSD as well as work together to foster a supportive environment that promotes success academically, behaviorally, socially and emotionally. Go Panthers!

Taryl Graetz

Position: Sixth grade social studies teacher

Hometown: Ellsworth, where I’m an EHS grad and River Falls where I have lived for the past 30 years.

Education: UW-River Falls/UW-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: I love to explore the Great Lakes and national parks.

Family: I’m blessed with a loving family that includes my husband Trevor, our daughter who is a junior in college and our son who will be a junior in high school.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m excited to work with sixth grade because I think they will be silly and curious. I’m looking forward to fostering a love of learning in my classroom.

Grace Groh

Position: Special education case manager (EES)

Hometown: Ellsworth

Education: UW-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: Reading, running, podcasts

Family: I am originally from Ellsworth and my family still lives here. My fiancé and I just moved back here with our cat and are excited to be back near family!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am so excited to meet with my students, their families, and reimmerse myself in the community.

Becky Hicks

Position: Support staff

Hometown: Menomonie

Education: UW-Stout, UW-Madison and UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Reading, hiking/walks, travel

Family: I have four grown children: Brandie, who lives in O’Fallon, Ill.; Dustin lives in Rochester, Minn.; Jennifer in Owensboro, Ky.; and Byron in Evansville, Ind. I have 12 wonderful grandchildren and give great grandkids.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m happy to be back in Wisconsin and look forward to getting back into work. Can’t wait to meet new people.

Samantha Hunter

Position: Teaching assistant/PKC staff

Hometown: Red Wing, Minn.

Education: CVTC-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, watching my kids play sports, reading and learning.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Getting to know the staff and students and watching the students grow and learn throughout the year.

Riley Jahnke

Position: Fourth grade teacher

Hometown: River Falls

Education: UW-La Crosse

Hobbies/interests: Going to my family cabin in Spooner, playing pickleball with my friends and family, watching and attending football games, traveling and vacation.

Family: My mom Colleen, stepdad Mike, and younger brother Reece all live in River Falls with our Mini Golden Doodle, Charlie

What are you most looking forward to this year? Building a class family with my first group of kiddos and meeting staff, parents, and other students throughout the year.

Michelle Jansen

Position: Math instructional coach

Hometown: I grew up in Richfield, Minn., but have lived outside of Prescott for 28 years.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from University of Minnesota, master’s degree from UW-River Falls; math specialist certificate from UW-Stout.

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy being outside walking my dogs, hiking, being on the river and many other outdoor adventures. I am an avid reader and lifelong learner and I love puzzles and brainteasers.

Family: My husband, Chris, and I have two grown children, Carter and Marissa, and enjoy our time with our dogs.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to work with the staff, families and students in Ellsworth as the math coach. I love sharing my love of learning and skills in making math fun and engaging for all students. I can’t wait to get started!

Stephen Kennedy

Position: High school English teacher

Hometown: San Mateo, Calif. Currently in Hudson

Education: Iowa State University

Hobbies/interests: Distance running, reading, hiking, camping

Family: My wife, Judy, from Janesville; daughter Ainsley, a senior at ISU studying linguistics

What are you most looking forward to this year? Making connections with my students.

Shelly Larson

Position: Special education teaching assistant/PKC

Hometown: Grew up in Bay City, now in Hager City since 2006.

Education: Hastings Beauty School

Hobbies/interests: We love to travel to Jamaica and love spending time with friends on the river.

Family: I’ve been married for 19 years. My husband’s name is Mike. I have one stepdaughter, Holly. She and her husband live in Trempealeau. I also have one stepson Joel. He lives in Spokane, Wash. with our two grandchildren, Sienna and Aidan.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Learning my new role as a teacher’s assistant. I am also looking forward to meeting all the kids and helping to teach them fun new things. I am looking forward to the coming year!

Olivia Lynner

Position: Kindergarten teacher

Hometown: Ellsworth

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Being with friends and family, playing with my dog, playing and watching sports, going to concerts, traveling

Family I currently live with my parents, Pat and Kristin outside of Ellsworth in Hager City. I also have a younger sister, Victoria, and a dog named Remi.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families. I can’t wait to work with the other staff and be back in this amazing district!

Ally Marson

Position: High school math teacher

Hometown: Berlin, Wis.

Education: UW-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: Scrapbooking, playing cards, practicing piano (but not as often as I would like).

Family: While in college, I met my now husband who is from this area, so that is how I ended up here. We just got married in July and we are looking forward to our new life together in Ellsworth and getting involved in the community.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Meeting the kids! I’m hoping they see me as someone who cares about them and wants to see them be successful. I’m looking forward to their sporting events, shows, concerts, etc.

Marisa McDaniel

Position: Math/reading teacher assistant

Hometown: Tomah

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy the outdoors, gardening, and exploring new places, but family and friends are my fav.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to sharing the joy and satisfaction of accomplishments with both students and staff.

Myah Olson

Position: Fourth grade teacher

Hometown: Hammond

Education: UW-Eau Claire

Hobbies/interests: Being outdoors, spending time with my friends and family, and reading books

Family: Currently living in Hammond with my fiancé Alex and our 7-year-old Golden Retriever Rubee. We are also expecting a little girl in January.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Getting to know and meet my students and their families. Building relationships with my coworkers while experiencing my first year of teaching.

Michael Rundle

Position: Math and reading teaching assistant

Hometown: Janesville

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Hiking, watching anime, reading, driving manual transmission cars

Family: My wife Brenda and I have been married for 28 years. We have two sons and one daughter, all between the ages of 15 and 21.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to meeting other staff members and working together to help students meet their goals.

Katy Van Gorden

Position: PKC wrap around teacher

Hometown: Tomah

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: I love to bake, garden, hike, fish, camp and spend time with my family.

Family: I have two girls ages 8 and 10 and a Corgi named Ralph!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to getting to know the elementary staff and students, and helping the 4Kers feel confident and comfortable as they transition to full-time students!
