In Spring Valley’s Homecoming, they took down local rival Elmwood/Plum City 24-0. The win moved Spring Valley to 7-0 and EPC to 1-6. Spring Valley plays against Boyceville for the top spot in the conference Friday on the road.

Prescott joined Spring Valley in the 7-0 club, taking down Amery 48-10. They also will play for the top in the conference, taking on Baldwin-Woodville with both teams sitting at 5-0 in conference.

Ellsworth picked up a 29-0 win over Altoona to move to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play. With two weeks to go and a matchup with Prescott slated for the final week, the Panthers are still battling for the top spot in the Middle Border or a share of it.

River Falls fell to 2-5 after a 32-21 loss to Rice Lake. The Wildcats hung around for much of the game, but Rice Lake has lost just two games between this season and the last, and they prevailed again.

Volleyball

River Falls lost a rivalry matchup at Hudson 3-1 in what likely decided the conference in favor of 27-1 Hudson. The Wildcats gave them everything they could handle, but the rowdy home crowd helped down the stretch. River Falls finished the weekend going 3-2 at the Midwest Fall Classic against some tough squads.

Ellsworth lost 3-0 to Osceola and St. Croix Central, as they prepare for a matchup with Prescott Oct. 8. Prescott is finding its form at the right time, winning three of their last four including the most recent against Amery 3-0.

Spring Valley, who came out of the gates strong, had a tough week with losses to Elk Mound, Durand-Arkansaw and Unity and a win against Siren. The team was pushing for a conference title, but that is now Durand-Arkansaw’s to lose at 5-0.

EPC is continuing to trend in the right direction with wins over Colfax and Elk Mound. They moved to 3-1 in conference and play Spring Valley on Oct. 10.

Cross Country

Prescott and Spring Valley competed at the Spring Valley invitational where Prescott took second in both the boys and girls races, and Spring Valley finished sixth of six in the boys race with not enough runners to qualify in the girls race. Kyra Dix of Prescott won the race.

River Falls competed in the Hudson Invitational with races organized by grade level, with freshmen Annemarie Csiacek and Clark Werwie and sophomore Owen Koepke all taking second place in their races.

Boys Soccer

River Falls split the weekend with a win over Onalaska and a loss to Holmen. Currently sitting at 8-7-1 and 4-3-0 in conference, the Wildcats are holding onto a top four spot in the Big Rivers Conference.

Girls Golf

Prescott and Ellsworth qualified for the golf sectionals after Prescott won the Hudson Regional as a team and Ellsworth placed second in the St. Croix Central Regional.

River Falls missed qualification with a seventh place finish out of 10 teams at the Hudson Regional.

Prescott heads to Tomah on Oct. 7 for their sectional while Ellsworth competes at Luck on the same day.

Swimming and Diving

The Wildcats won 10 of 12 events to pick up a win over Eau Claire North 95-81 Oct. 3. River Falls now heads into a stretch featuring more crucial conference matchups.

Girls Tennis

Ellsworth took fourth in the Middle Border Conference meet on Oct. 1, trailing Baldwin-Woodville, Altoona and Amery.

River Falls had a tough week, landing at the bottom of the Big Rivers Conference meet and dropping a match 7-0 against a strong Baldwin-Woodville team.
