A future Miss USA in the making: Miss Georgia Jones

ELLSWORTH – Ellsworth is home to one ambitious second grader, a Miss USA in the making, if she has anything to say about it.

Six-year-old Georgia Jones, the daughter of Sarah and Robert Jones, was crowned the National American Miss Wisconsin Princess Aug. 4 in Middleton, Wis. She competed against 16 other little girls for the title in categories such as formal wear, personal introduction, and interviewing, where she received two perfect scores.

According to mom Sarah, she will compete in the national competition over Thanksgiving break while representing her hometown of Ellsworth.

“Georgia may be small, but she has big plans,” Sarah Jones said. “She started her platform, ‘Make the World Gorgeous with Georgia’ where she helps with park and community clean up. Her goal is to make the world a cleaner place and help teach children about the importance for keeping our earth clean.”

Georgia got involved with National American Miss (NAM) last year where she competed just for fun to see if she would like doing pageants, Sarah said.

“She placed seventh her first year and was determined to place higher her second year back,” Sarah said. “She loves that she is able to meet girls from different places and make new friends.”

Georgia has been competing in numerous pageant systems and currently holds three state titles in 2024. At the Miss Wisconsin Princess pageant, she competed in formal wear, which required her to walk the stage pattern in a long gown. For the introduction, she had to speak in front of a crowd and talk about her goals and ambitions, plus fun facts. During the interview portion, she had to answer questions from a judge where they are scored on the details of their answers.

Sarah said Georgia’s favorite part in pageants is the interview, where she likes to give the judges an “ice cream sundae” answer. Her least favorite part is the introduction because she gets nervous speaking in a microphone on stage.

“This pageant she was not nervous,” Sarah said. She had her best friend Alice in the pageant with her and they loved doing all the areas of competition together. She is a lot less nervous when she’s competing in a pageant and she knows some of the contestants.”

Georgia, who attends school at Ellsworth Elementary School, loves swimming, volunteering in the community and hanging out with her friends. She has two little brothers, named Sawyer and Hayden. She also loves math and science. Her ultimate goal is to be crowned Miss USA one day.

Sarah said she supports Georgia’s pageant participation because Georgia used to very shy. This has helped her gain confidence.

“Pageants have allowed her to overcome her shyness and share her kindness with everyone,” Sarah said. “We also love the community that pageants bring and love how it teaches our daughter the importance of lending a helping hand in her community and surrounding communities.

“It has taught her how to be confident, how to be a leader, helped with public speaking, and has helped her build relationships that will last a lifetime.”

When Georgia won the Wisconsin title, Sarah was in shock. She couldn’t believe the cheering and emotion from all their friends present, which made it even sweeter.

Good luck to Miss Georgia as she represents Ellsworth at Nationals in November.
